NAD+ for Sale

NAD+ for sale is a phrase attached to listings that vary far more in what they omit than in what they claim, and the omissions follow a pattern.

This page reads a listing in two passes. The first is everything you can establish before paying, which is where the important gap sits. The second is what the vial itself settles when it lands on your table. Everything described here is research material sold for laboratory use and not for human consumption.

The five lines a real NAD+ for sale listing states

Grade. Pharmaceutical grade or repackaged from a food or supplement supply. This is the line that is almost never present, and the one that matters most.

Quantity, in grams. NAD+ is a coenzyme rather than a signalling compound, and it is sold by the gram. A 1,000 mg vial is the standard unit in this channel, which is why prices belong per 100 mg. Any listing quoting single-digit milligram quantities is either mislabelled or selling something else.

A lot number, tied to a certificate. Not one undated document covering everything the seller has ever shipped. A lot number, an analysis date, and a laboratory with a name and an address.

Storage conditions. Lyophilised material has a storage temperature and a light and moisture condition attached to it, and a listing that says nothing about storage has not thought about what happens after dispatch.

Testing scope. Which assays were run, spelled out. This is different from a purity number, and the difference is the subject of two sections below.

The repackager problem, which is the centre of this page

The reason grade sits at the top of that list is documented rather than theoretical.

On 30 October 2024 the FDA published a compounding risk alert saying it was aware of compounders using food-grade nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide sold by repackagers to make intravenous products. Ingredients identified as food grade, it said, are not suitable for compounding sterile drugs without appropriate processing, due to the high risk of contamination with microbes and endotoxins. It then reported adverse event reports following use of NAD+ injectable drugs, including severe chills, shaking, vomiting and fatigue, some requiring medical treatment, and described those reactions as consistent with excessive levels of endotoxins.

Sit with the shape of that. The material was real NAD+. The buyers were licensed compounders. The chain that failed was the one between a repackager's label and what the label was suitable for, and FDA's own remedy in the same notice was to urge manufacturers and repackagers to state clearly on the label when an ingredient is intended for food or dietary supplement use. The agency noted it had previously raised the same concern about glutathione, so this is a pattern in ingredient sourcing rather than a quirk of one substance.

For a buyer reading a listing, that converts into one written question: is this material pharmaceutical grade, or is it repackaged food or supplement grade? A seller who answers plainly has told you something real. A seller who answers with a purity percentage has answered a different question, and the substitution is worth noticing.

One phrase deserves separating out, because it appears on almost every listing and carries less than it looks. "Research grade" is not a grade in the sense that pharmaceutical grade is a grade. It is a statement about intended use, not about manufacture, processing or the conditions under which the material was handled, and nothing prevents food-grade material from being sold under it. The same goes for "99% pure", which describes a measurement rather than a supply chain, and for "third-party tested", which is meaningful only once you know which tests. Treat all three as prompts for a question rather than as answers, and the listing gets much easier to read.

What a certificate says, and what it stops short of

The listing linked on this page publishes two lot-specific certificates, which is one more than the market norm, so it is a reasonable specimen to read closely rather than a strawman.

The MZ Biolabs certificate for lot 25-01260229, analysis date 26 January 2026, reports purity of 99.66% by high performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet detection, identity confirmed by mass spectrometry, and a measured quantity of 784.32 mg per vial. A second certificate from Kovera Labs covers lot 25-05260628, tested 14 June 2026.

Two things are worth extracting from that. First, the quantity line. A measured 784.32 mg against a 1,000 mg label looks alarming until you read the note the laboratory attached to it, which explains that salts and sugars added to aid solubility and act as pH buffers are not normally detected by ultraviolet methods and are not counted as impurities. That is the ordinary explanation, and it is still worth an email before buying ten units, because it changes what you are paying for per 100 mg of coenzyme rather than per 100 mg of contents.

Second, and more important, is what that certificate does not carry: an endotoxin result. Purity, identity and quantity are three genuine tests and none of them is the bacterial endotoxins test, which is its own assay with its own methodology. A certificate showing 99.66% purity is silent on the contaminant that put people in a clinic chair with rigors. That is not a reason to reject the listing. It is a reason to stop treating a purity number as an answer to a sterility question, on this listing and every other one.

What the vial settles when it arrives

Three claims can only be checked after the box opens, and they are the ones a listing cannot fake.

The lot number is first. It is printed or labelled on the vial, and matching it against the certificate you were shown, digit for digit, is the closest thing to a chain of custody this market offers. Do it before anything else, because it is the check that becomes impossible once packaging is thrown away.

The seal is second. An intact crimp and an undisturbed stopper.

The cake is third. What should be sitting at the bottom of a gram vial is a dry white to off-white cake or film. A collapsed puddle or a wet ring on the glass suggests the material has been warm and is a temperature history nobody wrote down. The vendor's own storage guidance for lyophilised material is minus 20 degrees Celsius, dry and dark, so the freezer is the destination on arrival day and not at the end of the week.
